“Felt Like I Didn’t Make Her Proud”: Simone Biles’ Teammate Jordan Chiles Makes a Heartbreaking Confession About Her Tokyo Olympics Performance

When Simone Biles shockingly stepped down from the Olympic mat, her whole team found themselves in an uncomfortable position. Simone had taken the daring step to withdraw from the biggest level, citing her mental health.

Regardless of the sudden pressure, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and other teammates stepped up to replace her. However, in an emotional confession, Jordan revealed she was upset after winning the silver medal.

Jordan Chiles felt like she did not live up to Simone’s hopes

In a recent interview, Simone’s teammate and best friend Jordan Chiles opened up about her Tokyo Olympics appearance. Jordan recalled an untold event that happened after team USA won silver, while Russia took home the gold medal.

Chile said,’ ‘I never told anybody, but there was a little moment that happened before we even got onto the podium. In that moment, I felt like I didn’t make her proud enough.”

She further added, Simone reassured her that the team did a great job. ”I cried because Simone started crying, and she asked me if I was O.K. And I told her, I’m sorry, I feel like I didn’t make you proud… She told me, You did such an amazing job. You guys are silver medalists. You got a silver medal with three people, that’s crazy.”

Jordan felt scared performing in place of THE Simone Biles

To be out in the position to perform in place of the gymnastics GOAT was not easy for Jordan. However, she remained focused and executed her best when her team and Biles needed her the most.

However, Chile doesn’t think she can ever be in the same position ever again. ”Trust me those shoes that I filled, those are some huge shoes. I could never do that again. That was a once in a lifetime thing. I told her: ‘Bro, I don’t know if I could ever fill your shoes again.’ That was scary for me,” Jordan said.

After Tokyo, Jordan herself has emerged as an Olympic champion. Notably, what she did out there without even being mentally prepared for it is extraordinary.
