Simone Biles is known as one of the world’s best female gymnasts. She held her first two world championship gold medals at 16 in 2013 and maintained her gold medal streak by winning another four in 2014, followed by four others in 2015.

Simone Biles became a prominent sports figure in her teenage years and raised the bar for everyone in the sport. Her sense of freedom in life and in her sport has changed dramatically with her age.

Simone Biles now has more control over her life

Simone Biles opened up about how gymnastics felt like a job she had to do, in her younger years. She remembered how once she had to be constantly pushed to perform, but now, this is what she really wants to do.

Whenever you’re younger, you feel like it’s a job, and you have to be pushed. But now it’s like, This is what I want to do, so that’s why I’m here,” remarked Biles. Simone Biles holds her profession for the love of it and not just for winning against other contenders.

“I Think It’s a Great Lesson”- Simone Biles Once Revealed Her Plans About Raising Her Kids

Over the years, Biles’ love and respect for gymnastics have multiplied. She now feels like she has more control over her life as a sportsperson than she had in her early years. “I’m not a little girl anymore. It’s definitely up to me. Nobody’s forcing me,” she says.

How the pandemic changed Biles

Biles believes that the years lost due to the pandemic helped her develop a more positive attitude toward life. She claimed that she lived, traveled around, and did all the things she had missed because of gymnastics.

After the Rio Olympics in 2016, Biles took some time off. She learned how being happy in areas of life outside the gym is as significant as doing well inside the gym. Biles’ time off made her feel as if everything was coming together in its place.

The pandemic helped her develop a balance in her personal and professional life. This balance consisted of long baths, eating cheesy food, spending time with her loved ones, and trying different hobbies. Biles says she was trying to find out who she really was as a person outside her profession.
