IShowSpeed is not exactly the sports know-it-all! Although he’s seen dabbling with various sports, his ability to retain their skills has turned out to be surprisingly poor. Yes, the world was baffled when he came astonishingly close to defeating Noah Lyles in a race. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about gymnastics.

Indeed, over a month ago, IShowSpeed was seen learning to flip from scratch from a U.S. Olympic bronze medalist. He did latch on to it well, jumping as high as 6 feet in hardly any time. But now, the viral internet sensation has disappointed the same gymnastics pro with a botched landing.

IShowSpeed’s foggy gymnastics memory leaves Fred Richard shocked

As seen in a reaction video uploaded by Fred Richard on Instagram, IShowSpeed almost knocks himself out in a failed flip while on a Fortnite livestream with his girlfriend Vanessa and Kai Cenat. IShowSpeed fails to get the elevation and rushes the move in a cramped space, which leads him to come down crashing on his desk and flip over a plate of snacks nearby.

The moment his tutor Richard saw this rookie mistake, he was flabbergasted and reacted in a video, “What the… Yo, what?” The 19-year-old seasoned gymnast couldn’t hide feeling let down after watching his pupil fail miserably. “Speed man, what did I teach you? What was all the flipping we did for? We got you to do the double-back flip!” he exclaimed.

As Fred Richard then shook his head in dismay, a flashback clip rolled, showcasing Speed’s picture-perfect flips from just a month ago. They were proof that he had it in him! But now? Well, let’s just say the student might need a refresher course. And it looks like Fred Richard is ready to step into his coaching shoes all over again!

In the post caption, Fred mentions, “We gotta get @ishowspeed back in the gym now..” The Paris debutant even puts a fun spin on it as he replies to the University of Michigan men’s gymnastics coach, Jordan Gaarenstroom‘s comment on the post, with, “haha so this is how my coaches feel.” After all, this is hardly the first time that IShowSpeed’s gymnastics skills have fallen short.

Has Speed gotten over-ambitious about his gymnastics talent?

Well, ever since IShowSpeed first learned to pull off somersaults on a trampoline and flips on the mat, his confidence regarding gymnastics has just skyrocketed. So much so that back in October 2024 he challenged himself to break Austria’s Nico Scheicher‘s 2019 record of the highest number of backflips in 24 hours. 1000 plus was his audacious goal!

However, things went south quickly after IShowSpeed had tread more than 50 percent of that path. After 660 non-stop flips, IShowSpeed had to sadly give up due to being temporarily paralyzed, which even prevented him from streaming for four days. And when he did, he confessed that there was a point where he could not even move his legs due to the severity of the pain.

Another time, IShowSpeed was seen challenging Fred Richard in a jump showdown at the Michigan Gymnastics facility. “There’s nobody on this planet who can jump higher than me!” he confidently declared at the start of the contest. Well, within the next few seconds, Richard proved him wrong!

Starting from 2 feet and going upwards, the two nailed every level of the challenge until it reached its final stage. The extreme 7-foot mark! While Richard landed it perfectly, IShowSpeed took two attempts where he did reach the top, but his knees touched the mat. The landing wasn’t clean at all, and that amounted to a near miss. But this time, as IShowSpeed gets embarrassed on the live stream, he missed it by a wide mark.
