On the big day, Jonathan Owens had everything ready. He had his fireplace burning with logs. He had his warmth on his bed with soft cotton. And he has his wife Simone Biles beside him to give him company at his watch party. It is a cozy weekend in Texas after all! What could be a better atmosphere than that to cherish the evening watch party? And do you know which program Owens had in his home theater running? It was the much-awaited boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul! Something a once-in-a-lifetime show! But the bad luck chased the NFL safety in his cozy corner.

At first, Jonathan missed the chance to watch the event live in AT&T Stadium in Texas. And when he decided to watch it on Netflix, the broadcasting issue disrupted his party. However, the 29-year-old couldn’t keep calm after facing such a dampener. In his Instagram story, he shared the emotion with the caption, “Yall gotta get right.” Meanwhile, the story shows continuous buffering with the dark LED screen. For any sports lover at a watch party, that is the most frightening scene. But Jonathan Owens is not the only one to raise his voice against the issue on November 15.

Several big names lined up on social media, complaining of having the same problem while watching the iconic fight. One such complaint came from Skip Bayless. Similar to millions of fans, the sports commentator Skip Bayless had planned to watch the boxing match on the screen. But the problematic broadcasting broke the tune. He had to miss watching the opening scenes.

Later on X, Bayless penned down his harrowing experience. He wrote, “I’ve been having streaming issues during live action on Netflix — and I’m dreading freezing and buffering during Paul-Tyson. I guess servers just don’t have the bandwidth for the worldwide magnitude of this.” Did the bandwidth cause the problem, as the raconteur suspected?

Only an official statement from Netflix authority could have saved the evening. However, it didn’t come. As a result, the fans felt a dead end. That list of fans included Dave Portnoy as well. Just like other viewers, the Barstool Sports founder faced a similar issue. However, the cutthroat commentator couldn’t keep patience. Rather, through his X-handle, he posted, “So the reports are in. #netflix wasn’t ready for this. This is unwatchable.” That confirmed the depth of the issue. However, the day shouldn’t have taken such an unexpected turn for Jonathan Owens. He had his plan set to enjoy the occasion.

Jonathan Owens had his off day ready to experience the fun

On November 15, a sizable chunk of sports fans kept their eyes on the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles were two of them. The duo kept their routines free to witness the game from the starting minute. Moreover, for Owens, it had been a break from his NFL duties for the Chicago Bears. Therefore, everything aligned to give the couple a memorable evening. Owens added something more to maintain the quotient high.

Through his Instagram story, the Missouri-born athlete urged his fans to support the game. He also put a scoring marker on his Instagram story to announce the scoreline of the match. But everything hit rock bottom with Netflix’s issue of broadcasting the match live. However, the match had several rounds, and the problem didn’t persist that long in several regions of the USA. So did Jonathan and Simone finally get to watch the match? Well, one thing’s for sure—the initial situation was definitely a bummer for them.
