NCAA Gymnastics News: Auburn Freshman Critics Her ‘Vault’ Routine After Facing Defeat in Georgia

The NCAA gymnastics teams have been working hard to place first in the NQS ranking, exciting the crowd with incredible performances at every meet this season. Along similar lines, the No. 14 Auburn gymnastics team dazzled in the Stegeman Coliseum arena in Athens, Georgia, on Friday, March 1. Despite facing a loss to the No. 20 Georgia gymnastics team, the Auburn Tigers posted the best season score of 196.900.

With the collective efforts of the team and ultimate reliance, Auburn gymnasts gave some tough competition to their formidable adversary, however, they could not achieve a win over Georgia. An Auburn freshman, who made her splendid ‘vault’ maiden appearance, took to the Judges Table to give a rousing breakdown of the same.

Paige Zancan deconstructs and goes all Socrates’ mode on her vault debut

Taking to its official Instagram handle, Auburn Gymnastics shared a post on Auburn freshman Paige Zancan’s vault debut. The post featured Paige Zancan, who spoke out about her experience of her vault debut at Georgia. The post caption reads “Freshman Paige Zancan made her vault debut last week and earned a team-best 9.9! She talks about performance in this week’s edition of The Judges Table! #WarEagle

After leading the team to earn the season-best score with her remarkable vault performance of 9.9, Paige Vanken shared some specific insights regarding the upcoming week’s edition of The Judges Table, remarking Hi, my name is Paige Zancan’ and this week for judges table we will be reviewing my 9.9 vault at Georgia. Let’s get into it. Running down the vault runway I felt really good. I felt like I was at a really good pace. And then as soon as my hands dropped to the first second thing I felt like it was going to be a really good one.

Apart from that, she kept on elaborating on her vault performance and disclosed some interesting facts too during the showdown in Georgia – After I landed, it was an immediate shock of just pure excitement. I was so excited that I was in the spot I was in and had as much control over the vault as I did. And then just being able to turn around and push to the judges I kind of forgot to breathe before I started speaking,” she added. There’s more to the story than meets the eye, though.

Paige Zancan earns praise from her teammate

In a battle against Georgia, Zancan took the lead with a 9.825 score. After witnessing her splendid performance, Paige’s teammate also applauded her for making a great vault debut. She expressed, Watching Paige step up on the road and make a great vault debut just made me very excited for her and proud. And she has such a calm intensity about her so I had no doubt that when we asked her to step up she would be capable of doing that.”

Apart from sharing good insight on her vault debut, Auburn Gymnasts, a native of Mount Airy, Maryland, called out supporters to join in Baton Rouge this weekend. The 2023 Region 7 Champion Zancan concluded her articulation with “War Eagle”, a symbol of the Auburn University spirit. What’s up next for her? Time will tell.
