Simone’s mother never thought her career would be this big
It was tough to predict Simone’s career trajectory while she was still in her junior years. However, when she won the all-around title at the 2013 world championship, the world was in awe of her talent and skill. Her mother said, “I remember staying up late just reading stuff on the internet like crazy.”

Though it was not until she repeatedly delivered blockbuster performances one after the other that her mother realized she was special. “I have never in my wildest dreams thought this was going to happen. And that’s when I realized this was different because it was in newspapers in different languages…. I picked up newspapers I couldn’t even read but they had my daughter’s picture in them,” added Nellie Biles.

Simone didn’t stop at the 2013 world championship. She won it again next year and then again the year after that. Finally, at the Rio Olympics, the entire world witnessed that Simone Biles was not just another athlete competing. Instead, she was a living gymnastics legend.

She won 4 gold and a bronze medal at Rio Games and a silver and a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics. If we combine together with her 25 world championship medals, she is the most decorated US gymnast. Perhaps now her mother can see clearly how great of an athlete her daughter has become.
