Earlier this week, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens had a joyous run over the latter’s new contract. As the two returned from their about a week-long tropical getaway in Hawaii, the Chicago Bears’ 2-year $4.5 million deal awaited the celebrated athlete couple. “So Proud of you baby,” the gymnast had shared as the news hit the industry. Now excited for the new path and a notable trajectory, Owens is all ready to take to the grounds in new colors.

The NFL safety had previously held a one-year $1.1 million contract with the Green Bay Packers, further full of love for him and Simone Biles from the fans. “Appreciate it @packers for the opportunity… will never forget my time in GB,”  he wrote in gratitude. A day later, the 28-year-old expresses his excitement on his social media for his brand-new venture.

A new chapter welcomes the couple

Over a day after the news of Owens’ signing made waves, the Chicago Bears took to X to confirm the status. “We have agreed to terms with Jonathan Owens,” the team posted on the platform. Considering the spotlight Owens has held with Simone Biles, they also ensured to welcome the two to the family together. Both the athletes reshared the post while Owens sent across a message on his readiness, writing, “Let’s work.”

Jonathan Owens had started 11 of the total 17 games he played for the Packers last season. He further recorded 84 tackles, three pass breakups, and a career-first touchdown in a win against the Detroit Lions. Owing to the numbers, Owens will join the safety group and take on a role as primary reserve.
