That occasion was particularly important for one of the most celebrated couples in America, given the turbulent days before that. Owens was almost grilled on the internet over his “catch” comment, while Biles put up a strong face, saving her man from the flares. After all this, their Christmas celebration pictures seemed to be a befitting answer to all the haters. However, things were not the same after a week as the world stepped into 2024.

While Simone Biles still seems to be in off-season mode after her triumph at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, the NFL season is at its peak. Owens’ Green Bay Packers will lock horns against the Chicago Bears on January 8. Understandably, professional commitments take precedence as the old saga of distance made a comeback on the very first day of the new year.

Distance strikes Simone Biles and Jonathan on New Year

In the latest update on Instagram, Simone Biles posted a series of five pictures of her New Year celebrations. But Jonathan Owens wasn’t present in any of those. “Ringing in the new year”, she captioned. The pictures came from the marriage ceremony of Biles’ friend Ali Tyler in New York.

Biles was donning a warm, dark-greenish dress in which she looked gorgeous while the bride was wearing a traditional white dress for the ring ceremony. It appeared that the event gave Biles some moments of pleasure as she once again braced the pangs of distance from her husband. The couple is setting major goals of commitment with the way they balance their personal and professional lives. They have always been there for each other despite being miles apart. Even then, the two take great pride in their sport. In fact, Simone went quite candid about it a few days back when she was asked for a comparison between gymnastics and football.

One of America’s most decorated Olympic gymnasts, Simone Biles, rated gymnastics as tougher than the NFL. She was hosted by Kenan Thompson and Kevin Hart on the popular podcast 2023 Back That Year Up. When asked, “Who do you think is the better athlete?”, Biles was initially surprised but took her side later.

“I think we’re good at our sports”, Biles expressed while dodging the question initially. However, she soon made a thumping statement. “gymnastics harder, if he agrees or not”, the Olympic Champion noted. Nonetheless, she respects the NFL highly, more so her husband’s commitment to the sport.
