Despite Her Long Break, Simone Biles Comes Out on Top of the Table at the US National Team Camp

Simone Biles is a gymnastics legend, and if records could talk, they would say, “Make way, the queen has arrived.” Just a few months since her wedding, Biles is back in the bars after a long absence. The athlete, however, achieved a few personal milestones during her two-year hiatus after the Tokyo Olympics. She prioritized her mental well-being with a regular workout since she hinted at a return before leaving the sport.

The gymnast shared updates on her first competition on social media after making her big return. The results of the first competitions have recently been made public, and it doesn’t appear to surprise gymnastics fans.

In a Tweet posted by @thegymterdotnet, the tally from the US National Team Camp shows Biles winning all the events. Giving sports fans an exciting update, the scores show a perfect 57.650! Out of the four competitions, she came first in three, including Vault(14650), Balance Beam(14350), and Floor Exercise(14450). While she stood third in the Uneven Bars competition, scoring 14200.

Despite being on her weak event day, Biles managed to score a 6.0 D. However, this is considered a good score by many who have already declared Biles as a National qualifier. She also performed her classic Yurchenko Double Pike vault, which landed her the score in the Champ event. She casually went on to display her groundbreaking skills, showing off what makes her the greatest. Scores of a few athletes were released by @chrisovitina on Twitter:

Although her eligibility is no longer in doubt, her results and performance certainly weren’t a surprise to Biles fans. For the 7X Olympic medalist, the standards were clear, and the bar was surely set high. Given the scores Biles received from internationally rated judges, this is just a new beginning for her. As she moves on to the next round, she keeps sharing her whereabouts with her loyal fans, who are more eager to see how well she does.

If you are a fan of Biles, you surely know about her history in the US Classic. Her elegant performance is anticipated at the annual gymnastics event on August 5. Since the first day of Biles’ absence, rumors have circulated that she will attend the one-day event. Yes! That is just how much of an influence Biles has on the bar—every time she is gone, her absence is felt.

Just in case the memory got blurry, Biles has participated in the U.S. Classic nine times till now. In her debut year in 2011, she secured the fifth position fifth on the balance beam and floor exercise in Chicago.

The next year, she secured the top position in all-around and vault, won the second position on the floor exercise, and was sixth in BB. Her gold streak was marked in the years 2012(2), 2014(4), 2015(4), 2016(1), 2018(3), 2019(2) and 2021(3). It should go without saying that gymnastics fans will be keeping an eye out for her big comeback given her outstanding record.
