The Texas native competed at the World Championship for the first time in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2013, winning four medals, including two golds. She wed Jonathan Owens, an NFL safety who she had dated since 2020, earlier this year. Both athletes returned to their respective sports shortly after their wedding. Owens relocated to the Green Bay Packers training facility in Wisconsin after being signed for $1.1M.

For the 26-year-old gymnast who returned to the mats after a two-year sabbatical, nothing had changed. ?Biles returned to Antwerp this week to add to her remarkable collection of titles, hinted by the triumphant opening day. Her confidence reflected on her historic win following that which was cheered by Owens from afar.

Biles issued a threat by being the first woman to perform the Yurchenko double pike on the global stage on opening day. After getting the skill officially named the Biles II, it became the fifth element to bear her name. In a strong position, she moved to the all-around final wearing a pink bedazzled leotard which Biles shared on Instagram. Busy with NFL commitment in the States, Owens dropped four heart emojis in the comments to show his love.

The picture captured Simone and her teammate Jocelyn Roberson having fun. Two days prior, the gymnasts were twinning in pink leos with Roberson flashing a smile and Biles cupid-twisting her tongue, their makeup set and ready for an all-around day. Sime added a series of pink hearts to the caption. The husband’s support, however, took all the brownie points while Biles created history with one AA in each of her attendance.

Just the next week of their marriage, the pair have struggled to support one another in person although they remain the biggest ally online. However, neither of the two appears to have been impacted by the distance. Rather, Simone and Jonathan have consistently shown their affection and support for one another. Days before flying to Antwerp, Biles also visited Owens to give him a fair close on their meet time. After which she put up a brilliant display at the global event.

Biles made her sixth appearance at the Worlds venue this week (2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2023). This time again, the gymnast scored 58.399 points across the four exercises to beat Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade by 1.633 points. The winningest gymnast overcame an error in her floor routine to score her victory in the event. Biles’s compatriot Shilese Jones took the bronze medal with 56.332 points.

Biles currently has a record 28 medals from the world championships, including 21 golds.? And an overall 35 Worlds and Olympics, which she later added to the vault routine. She earned a spot in each of the individual routine finals that day and will head to the Paris Games with legendary pride.
