This year’s all-around event US Core Hydration Classic saw Leanne Wong going head-to-head with the GOAT, Simone Biles. Nonetheless, the day’s scoreline showed Leanne as the third-best vault mark. But, that did not compel the athletic community not to acknowledge the performance of the 20-year-old athlete from Kansas City. Wong has done it several times-punching above her height. As an elite gymnast, her journey started in 2017. In that year, she made a rare feat by clinching the top spots in all-around and on vaults in the US Classic. That Texas Classic saw the debut of an athlete who does it for ”fun”. On the eve of the 15th anniversary of her athletic journey, the 2019 Pan American Games winner has admitted the fun factor through a social media post. 

However, Wong did not stop there in her post. The 15-times All-American athlete poses a character of standing to the near-perfect in her every feat. The collegiate bests of her at vaults, bars, and beam are triple 10.0. But that has not come closer to quenching the satisfaction of the athlete. In the same social media post, she hinted something about that.

The two-time world champion has shared a montage of her athletic journey from her early years. The post has shown a resemblance of her flip transforming with her age. She justified the post with the caption, “time flies! 15 years”. The post shows her lines as “this is fun! i wonder how long i’ll do this for?”. Whereas the fun part was already clear as her motivation for the game, the hashtags of ‘explore’ in the post made the statement deeper. The question part of her statement also aired as something to be revealed or explored later. Soon after, the public figures, Rachael and Lucas Simarri, made a gesturing comment on the post from their handle, rachaelandlucas. Their post read, “You’re such an inspiration!”.  

In the recently concluded FIG World Championships, Wong went on to win gold as a part of the US National team. This year has proven to be the fifth consecutive time Wong has made a berth in the US Senior National Team. Even for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she received a late call in the senior team.

The fun part Wong has continued to stress has come for her through the audience’s captivation. Speaking to Olympics.com, Wong continued, “At the end of my routine, I heard the crowd scream. I mean, it was so much louder than day one,”. This was her snippet talk at the 2023 US Gymnastics Championships. However, Wong has upped the ante by standing for something that could be found rare at the onset of the Paris Olympics.

Wong’s talent was never hidden from the sport. Her achievements since her appearance since her debut have sealed it profoundly. Still, the athlete never fails to make a mark, even in her bad times. In 2022, before the final day of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, she twisted her ankle. However, that did not hinder Wong from giving her best in her national duty. This was the 6th straight gold-winning moment for the US National team at the event.

Leanne Wong does not have any indication of forgetting her routes at any moment. Be it showing “Gator chomp” on the floor or podium or sticking to the coaches of her university time, Wong gives a surreal touch of Florida in every sense. Even before the Paris Olympics, the current world champion has continued with her university coaches, Jenny Rowland and Owen Field. Her statement on the matter was enough to dignify it, “Right now, I feel like my coaches at Florida and I work really well together, so I’m just really enjoying this relationship.” 

Leanne Wong has continued to show her fun and enjoyment meter contained before the 2024 Olympics. Now, it will be interesting to see whether her next career anniversary post shows her as an Olympic champion.
