Olivia Dunne is one of the most trendy people in American gymnastics and is famously the highest-paid collegiate athlete. Also, she just turned 21 this month! How is she able to achieve that? The New Jersey native began gymnastics at 3 and quickly swept through regional and national championships. She perfected her routines while honing her social media skills on Instagram which she joined at 10! After joining LSU on full scholarship, the inception of name, image, and likeness deals allowed her to capitalize on her all-rounder talents. The past few years have been particularly successful for Dunne off-mats, from media coverage to global multi-talent recognition.

At the beginning of 2023, her leg injury prevented her from competing with the LSU Tigers until she returned for her senior year. The inconsistent nature of Dunne’s competitive schedule hasn’t prevented her from sharing engageable content with her millions of fans. Just recently, the SI swimsuit model shared an exclusive clip from her practice.

Dunne gave her 12-million-strong following online updates from Baton Rouge’s locker room, gymnastics center, and other locations around. One can expect a wide spectrum of content including her rigorous training, social media trends, and even collegiate trips. In a video posted on TikTok, Dunne flaunted her wide split with periodic shifts; one leg fixed on the wall parallel to the ground while the other leg extended mid-air. She captioned the eight-second clip, “Slight deduction on the landing.”

With “look at me now” playing in the background, Dunne turned herself upside-down for a 180° split against the wall. When that wasn’t all she confidently locked the line angle further bending her extended leg from the knee almost touching her head.

While undoing the quick stunt, the gymnast fell sideways, which incurred a point deduction. In gymnastics, where narrow margins make a significant difference, such missteps can have a substantial impact.

Do you remember Dunne’s first TikTok video from LSU’s return, the one where she united with another LSU gymnast Elena Arenas? From the Tigers’ locker room, they posted a fun video. Dunne captioned it, “We’re back, all right folks. Have you missed us? We missed you, for sure.” Dunne expressed her feelings on how quickly the years passed. She stated, “I know it’s [college] coming to an end, so I’m trying to take in every single last memory I can,” as this would be her last formal gymnastics display before switching careers. While LSU wraps are in talks, were you aware that she missed in-person classes?

Why wasn’t Olivia Dunne in attendance?

At LSU’s first meet of the 2023 season at the University of Utah, Dunne was only present and did not even participate; however, some gymnasts claim that a group of males harassed them and “demanded to see” Dunne. Between 100 and 200 men gathered outside the arena behind barriers and yelled,  “Give us Livvy! We want her!” Hence, she decided not to attend live classes on the LSU campus due to safety concerns.

Later, recalling the incident Dunne shared, “There were some scares in the past, and I just want to be as careful as possible.” Ever since Dunne was taking online classes and added, “I don’t want people to know my daily schedule and where I am.” With the honing of her skills seen on her numerous videos online, Dunne is now preparing to advance Tigers’ to the NCAA Championships where they last ranked fourth. About what’s next, she says, “excited to see what the future holds.”
