Participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at the age of 18, Suni Lee’s journey has not been easy. In a recent conversation in 2023, Suni Lee confessed to feeling the impending pressure after winning a gold medal in the 2021 Olympics and the repercussions that affected her while performing in college-level gymnastics. Lee’s revelations are important as earlier, Lee had disclosed how she was battling Imposter Syndrome after winning gold in the Olympics.

Imposter Syndrome involves feeling unsure of one’s potential and ability. The gymnastics champion also told how the sudden popularity made it difficult for her to concentrate. Talking about how returning to college gymnastics after the Olympics was difficult, Lee shared her experiences in the 2022 season as she competed for the Auburn Tigers which was comparatively different. As reported by the official Auburn Tigers website, Lee made a 2022 admission that she had more fun as compared to the 2021 Olympics. “Because I was coming straight off the Olympics, I did have that pressure of being the Olympic gold medalist, I think I carried it through the rest of the season.”, she stated. 

As per reports, Lee had also thought of withdrawing her participation in many competitions after the 2021 Olympics. Later, Lee expressed, “This year, I’m more thinking of my team and having fun while I can because I am going to go back to competing elite and training for the Olympics right after.” It seems that Lee was able to better able to mitigate her issues as she moved away from the overwhelming fame that took hold of her life in a matter of just a few hours in 2021. However, what is making her fans happy is the fact that she seems to be in grips with the forthcoming Olympics.

Her contribution helped the Auburn Tigers to make it to the top four teams in the NCAA Championships 2022. The gymnastics champion continued to perform well in the 2023 season as well. This can be seen in Suni Lee’s recent performance in Alabama. The gymnastics champion achieved a phenomenal feat, helping her create history in college-level gymnastics.

Performing moves such as Jaeger and Maloney, Lee displayed tremendous skills on uneven bars. She ended her bar routine with a double back. Lee’s uneven bars routine earned Lee a perfect score of 10, helping her to defeat competitors such as Jordan Paradise and Darien Goborn. Jubilant after this win, Lee danced and celebrated with her teammates.
