‘She Has Spoken Up’- British Gymnast Thanks Simone Biles for Being a Voice for the Sport After Tokyo Olympics 2020

At the Summer Games 2021, Simone Biles took a stance on her mental health and left a profound impact on the audience throughout the world. Speaking up for herself and the sport, she broke several barriers and inspired millions. Consequently, the British gymnast, Jessica Gadirova, recently opened up about how thankful she felt because of Biles’ actions.

Biles decided to step down in 3 out of the 5 events, in Tokyo Games. She did so because she wanted to prioritize her mental well-being over the competition. Even though she has been a gymnast for years, there are times when it becomes difficult to cope up.

While a vast majority supported her, certain individuals criticized her too.

What did Jessica say for Simone Biles?

17-year-old Jessica secured a bronze at the Summer Games in Tokyo.  Not only this, but she also became the current 2021 European floor exercise champion, vault silver medalist, and all-around bronze medalist.

Recently, in one of the interviews, Jessica expressed how she felt about Biles, speaking her mind out globally. She said, “I used to have a problem with learning my twists, but have never really had a problem with my twisting yet.”

“But I do understand gymnasts that get the ‘twisties’ and as a gymnast it’s very, very scary when you do have them, because you’re in great danger if you do not know where you are.”

“I think with her voice and how she has spoken up, it definitely helped the younger generation to be more open and to speak up, and let coaches know how the gymnast feels so they can help us as much as possible.”

The 17-year-old said it right. Having a tremendous amount of experience in gymnastics along with 32 Olympic and Championship medals, it cannot be denied that Biles is an entity to look up to.

Jessica further added, “I’ve always looked up to people to inspire me and motivate me to be the best gymnast I can be. So for me to do the same thing is very nice. And having the opportunity to say what I think about gymnastics to the younger generation, I think would really help.”

Simone Biles is a phenomenal gymnast. Indeed, the budding gymnasts will surely try to follow in her footsteps and try to reach her level of excellence. And so Jessica seems to be on this path to glory as she draws encouragement from Biles.
