Wearing a custom denim jacket, carrying the words “OWENS” in big blue letters, and sporting Gucci sunglasses, Simone Biles stood out from the crowd at the Soldier Field. But it was the Chicago Bears star, who stole the show with a delightful celebration honoring his wife as she cheered him on. Jonathan Owens made his first start of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and his gymnastics celebration after a TD has left Biles’ loved ones in awe.
During the Vikings’ first drive of the game, running back Aaron Jones ran the ball up the middle and was hit by DeMarcus Walker. Jones was able to bounce off Walker and was met by Jonathan Owens, who not only stopped him up for a forced fumble but took the ball away for a recovery. He quickly went up the the back of the end zone and put his arms up for a gymnastics-inspired celebration where he put his arms up similar to how his wife Simone Biles would after a routine.
Seeing the celebration, Biles reacted instantly and was seen cheering with both her hands up and was “fired up” as the commentators put it. Well, she wasn’t the only one sharing her excitement at Owens’ fantastic play.

After the post was shared on social media, Simone’s sister, Adria, who’s often her number-one supporter, was quick to drop a comment filled with triumph emojis, “😤😤😤😤” showing just how proud she was. Simone’s best friend and gymnast, Jordan Chiles, also shared her excitement writing: “Literally the best thing I’ve ever seen!!!” And the praise didn’t stop there.
Yul Moldauer, the American gymnast who won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships, joined in with a simple but powerful “Yes SIRE,” showing his approval of Owens’ gymnastics-inspired move and a caption, which read, “Stay down, keep workin 🙏🏽 God always got a plan.”
Even Simone Biles’ former coach, Cecile Landi, couldn’t resist sharing Jonathan Owens’ impressive gymnastics-inspired celebration on her Instagram story and gave her judgment writing, “Great job, no deduction on that one..!!” Of course, Simone had to get in on the fun too, commenting “🔥🔥MHM HMMMM BABYYYY.” But she wasn’t done—she even shared a video of Jonathan’s celebration on her Instagram story from Yahoo Sports that read, “Simone Biles’ husband celebrated like her.”

Simone, sporting her longer hair after debuting a shorter style at the CMA Awards, was seen celebrating from her suite at Soldier Field. She was on cloud nine, even though the Bears didn’t hold onto their early lead. Despite Jonathan’s game-changing play and his solid performance with eight tackles—fourth-most on the team—the Bears lost in overtime, 30-27.
While it will be a common sight in the NFL now to see Biles cheering on her husband, the roles were reversed back in August, when the NFL star supported his wife at the Paris Olympics.
Owens kept rooting for Biles from the stands as she made history in Paris
Jonathan Owens headed to Paris to cheer on his wife and see her perform at the Games in August. Biles won three gold medals, becoming the most decorated gymnast with 39 career medals. Owens was given an exemption by the Chicago Bears to attend his wife’s quest for glory.
“For him, it meant the world to him because he’s seen the amount of hours that I put in, so to actually see in person, he was like, ‘Wow. This is amazing.’ He was just so excited to be there,” Biles told the Today Show about her husband’s experience in Paris. The Chicago Bears safety was in attendance for the Biles’ Gold Over America Tour after the Olympics.
Thus as we see this couple has been constantly supporting each other and Owens’s gymnastics tribute after his forced fumble on Sunday was another example of the love they share for each other.
