Simone Biles has had her fair share of struggles in life and career. As such, she understands the hardships people face at every turn of their life. Therefore, she understood the difficulties associated with transitioning from one aspect of life to another.

Therefore, the gymnast expressed her support for women who wanted to pursue higher education. And she did it through her active involvement in a college scholarship event. Moreover, another prominent celebrity joined her to announce the names of the scholarship recipients.

In 2016, Biles won five medals, including four golds, at her debut Olympic meet. Therefore, people started recognizing her. And they hailed her as the favorite for the next meet. However, her struggles did not stop there. When one is as decorated as the two-time Olympian, one must maintain their peak form throughout their career.

Therefore, she could relate, in parts, to the struggles of the finalists who aspired to pursue higher education. Moreover, she wanted to help them during their transition from school to college. And she did so through her active involvement in presenting the scholarships. However, another celebrity joined the gymnast to present the scholarship to these women students.

Three times Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone joined the athlete on stage to announce the names of the girls selected for the scholarships. The star is a versatile and prolific actress and has won three Oscars. Moreover, she has a net worth of $40 million.

The scholarships came to fruition due to the collective effort of Loyola Marymount University and The Hollywood Reporter. Previously, they decided to grant $200,000 annually to two female aspirants to study at the University. However, 2016 marked a break from this convention as the organizers provided the scholarship to three girls instead of two.

Why did the committee decide to increase the count in 2016?

The decision to grant the scholarship to one more girl was made possible by Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Scholarship. The lead board member Trisha Cardoso approached the television director with the two names of the finalists and wanted him to select one as the recipient of the scholarship.

However, he had a different thought in mind. He wanted to give full scholarships to both girls. When the actress announced that the other finalist of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Scholarship would receive the scholarship in full, the girl could not contain her excitement and gave a heartfelt speech.
