Taking a break from competitive gymnastics, the legendary Simone Biles has been busy focusing on her health and relationships. She is supposed to get married to her NFL star fiance next year. But before Biles got together with her fiance, Jonathan Owens, she was in another relationship.

Biles? first relationship was with a fellow athlete, Stacey Ervin Jr., back in 2017. After dating for nearly three years, the couple went their separate ways in March 2020.

In the July 2020 Vogue cover story,?Simone Biles?revealed she had split up with her boyfriend after almost three years. At the time, Biles was 23, and Stacey Ervin Jr was 26. Though the Olympic champion didn?t reveal why exactly they broke up, she shared a few words about their split.

“It?s hard being young and having that long of a relationship and then ending it,”?the four-time?Olympic?gold medalist?told?Vogue,?“But it was for the best.?

According to?People, the pair first met long before they got involved in August 2014, during the P&G Gymnastics Championships. Later on, when Biles was a contestant in the TV show ‘Dancing With the Stars’, her mother, Nellie, hired Ervin to be a coach at their gym in Texas.

Their relationship developed from there, and Biles first spoke of it to the press in September 2017. Stacey Ervin Jr. also performed as a gymnast in college, but he pivoted to WWE a few years later. Now, he has retired from all competitions and runs a fitness program.

Looking forward to a new chapter

Back in August 2020, Simone Biles went official about her relationship with Houston Texans safety, Jonathan Owens. The two shared glimpses of their mutually supportive relationship through interviews and social media posts, talking about how they complete each other.

After two years of dating, the couple announced their engagement earlier this year in February. Since Biles has taken time off from gymnastics after the Tokyo 2022 Olympics, the couple can frequently be seen on vacation together.

The couple hasn’t yet confirmed when exactly their wedding will take place. But Biles has informed the world that they have already decided on a date and location for the wedding. The two bonded over their mutual love for dogs and shared experience as athletes.

When they first met, Owens didn?t even know Biles was famous, let alone the most dominant gymnast of our time. It is uncertain if and when Biles will return to competition, but the fans are supportive of all her off-mat endeavors.
