Narrating an incident from her private school, Simone recounts one incident that involved her classmate. Simone states how he was pretty upset with his grades. In this context, she refers to her friend, whom she addresses as Brandon (for the sake of privacy).

Telling a bit about Brandon, Simone tells readers how he tended to do self-harm. Simone realized that her friend was going to hurt himself. Stopping him, Simone said, “Brandon, don’t do that, please.” Confessing her emotions, Simone adds, “The way he cut himself sacred to me.” Like a good friend, Simone tried to stop Brandon from self-harming.
