It stupefied the world when Simone Biles withdrew from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics because of her mental health struggles. The decision further divided people in their opinions about whether she did the right thing. However, the way former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo saw it differed from the rest.

What Simone Biles has accomplished in her career is perhaps beyond greatness. However, the legacy that she’ll leave behind would not be her Olympics and world championships glory, but the voice she gave to millions of people struggling with mental health issues. She made the world see that sometimes it’s okay to not be okay, and choose oneself over everything else.

Henry Cejudo’s take on Simone Biles withdrawing from the Olympics
After Simone Biles’ decision to pull out from the Olympics hit the media, most of the athletes praised her for her bold stance. On the other hand, Henry Cejudo had a different outlook on the subject. He posted a video on Twitter in which he said, ?I believe Simone Biles pulling out of this thing is like, I think she really needs to check herself.?

The 2008 Olympic gold medalist further added, ?People say the media created her and you know they put upon this pressure. Not really. They only give you a platform, limelight. It?s up to you to believe it and to accept it. If you start to think you?re the GOAT and the greatest of all time, then that?s on you.?

Former UFC champion thinks Biles made a mistake
While her withdrawal made Simone Biles a mental health icon, according to the former UFC champion, it was a grave error on her part. Cejudo said, “I do believe she made a mistake.”

Although Cejudo made a very harsh judgment, perhaps it lies solely on Biles to look back and see whether or not she made the right choice.
