25-year-old Simone Biles has achieved feats bigger than her age. The American sporting legend is one of the most decorated Olympians. The GOAT of gymnastics stands towering on the mat. Simone’s life is an inspiration for many. Winning five medals in her debut Rio Olympics, Simone made the world recognize her indomitable talent.

However, everything wasn’t really easy for Simone. There was a point when even her coaches doubted her gymnastics skills. But Simone, over the course, proved everybody wrong and emerged victorious.

Proving everybody wrong, the Simone way
When Simone won her Olympic all-around title, National team coordinator Márta Károlyi hugged the young star and said, “I’m so proud of you; five years ago, I couldn’t tell.” In the initial days, Márta could not fathom Simone’s skills.

Describing Simone as “a little bit silly,” she adds, “Her bounciness was really out of control,” During the initial years, Biles was not thought to be a top American gymnast prospect. Struggling with her performance in the junior category of the 2011 U.S. Junior Championships, Biles secured 14th position out of 24 competitors.
Showing skepticism over her skills, Márta confessed, “I didn’t know if we would be able to make this little girl to focus and to be very disciplined.” But braving all odds with her discipline, passion, and determination, Simone did emerge as the World Champion and Olympic Gold medalist.
Simone Biles inspiring the next generation
Growing up was not easy for Simone. When she started her gymnastic career at the tender age of six, Simone was very insecure about her height. Only later did she realize that her height gives her leverage over her competitors. It is not her disadvantage but rather her advantage.

Overcoming her insecurities and achieving her dreams, Simone, in one conversation, said, “It’s amazing that I can inspire little kids.” A strong advocate of mental health, Simone believes body type does not matter. When dreams are higher, the height does not really matter.
