“Was Sick For Her”- Fiancé Jonathan Owens Was Devastated Upon Seeing Simone Biles Struggling During Tokyo Olympics

Simone Biles is a name almost everyone is familiar with. If not for her gymnastic abilities, Biles is famous for her Olympic withdrawal. An incident that got coverage all across the planet and was a heavily talked about topic. Biles bravely came forward to talk about the mental health issues she struggled with. She has since become a voice and inspiration for many athletes going through similar issues.
While we often talk about what Simone had to go through. We forget to think about what the people closest to her went through. In this case, her fiancé, Jonathan Owens, threw light on what he faced during one of Simone’s toughest phases in life.

Owens talks about seeing Simone Biles suffer
Ever since they got engaged, Simone and Owens have become one of the internet’s favorite couples. Everybody wants to know what’s up with them and when they’re getting married. They spend as much time together as possible and have become an important part of each other’s lives. With this level of closeness, sharing becomes a natural part of life.
Biles and Owens share every joy, every success, every failure, and every pain. Hence, it was a given the couple would also share in Biles’ struggle with her mental health. Taking about the same, Owens said, “I was sick for her, just because I can see her face, I kind of know her facial expressions, I can kind of read her lips and kind of know what was going on and kind of what she was telling her coach.”

Jonathan added, “I kind of already knew what was going on beforehand, so I was just really hoping she was going to get over it and be able to go out there and perform. So I was sick to my stomach because she wasn’t able to go out there.”
He also mentioned it was hard for him to understand what Simone was going through because he was not at that stage and wasn’t dealing with the pressure she was, but he tried to be as understanding as possible.

Simone’s ‘home in a person’
The power couple has been open about their relationship since day one. They have often talked about they’ve been a constant pillar of support for each other. Talking about what it means to have Owens by her side, Simone said it means the world to her because he has been by her side throughout.
She further said he has always been the one to believe in her. And he has been there to tell her everything is or will be okay. Biles explains it as finding a home in a person.

Incidentally, the couple is also engaged in building their new dream home together. While they will marry each other, the couple hasn’t disclosed the date of their marriage. But we can’t wait to find that out too!
