The Iowa Hawkeyes are silently revamping their wrestling team and things are shaping up to be promising. Days after freshman Gabe Arnold announced his triumphant debut after a tremendous win over All-American Travis Wittlake, another addition to the Hawkeyes roster is making the headlines. Last month, the Hawkeyes’ women’s team put out a splendid debut performance at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Now, after receiving a commitment from Blair Academy student Leo DeLuca, the Hawkeyes look to fortify its lightweight depth even further.
DeLuca shared the news of his commitment to the Hawkeyes in an Instagram post. After the big reveal, the high-school sensation also shared an image with a major Hawkeyes figure. With their collaboration about to take on new heights, the Iowa Hawkeyes can rest assured for the upcoming season.

National Champ resorts to the way of the Hawkeyes
DeLuca is a National Prep Champion and two-time Who’s #1 participant. In his latest Instagram post, the rising wrestling star announced his pledge to the Hawkeyes. The national second-ranking athlete in the 120lb category also shared an image with a Hawkeyes pivotal character that shows his commitment shouldn’t come with any surprise. Along with the news of him joining the Hawkeyes soon, DeLuca has also shared a picture of him as a child with Hawkeyes’ Head Coach Tom Brands.

DeLuca has had an incredible season this year. At Fargo, Deluca ripped through his opponents and registered an incredible 72-1 record. Understandably, DeLuca’s addition to the Hawkeyes’ roster will bolster their confidence for the next season.
This year’s Cy-Hawk series hasn’t been something the Hawkeyes anticipated. The ISU Cyclones cruised past their arch-rivals to win this year’s edition of the coveted tournament. However, the Hawkeyes did manage to wriggle out a much-needed win thanks to their wrestling team’s unwavering performance on the mat. Now that DeLuca looks to fall back on his long-standing relationship with Brands, their collaboration is poised to yield positive results for the team in the coming days.
