There are several horses that the world watches every year as they compete in the races. Despite the abundance of horses, only a select few manage to capture the imaginations of spectators. Any equine can get this badge by winning a lot of races, important events, or even simply achieving a remarkable feat. The world of horse racing is familiar with Secretariat, the powerful stallion. Thanks to its many track records in American thoroughbred racing and its triple crown victory, the stallion achieved the hearts of many.

Many eager fans are counting down the days before the Kentucky Derby. But just before the G1 event, a video made its way back onto social media. This resurfaced footage shows Secretariat in his prime, galloping across a field; admirers of the equine wasted no time making this footage viral.

The majestic wingless Pegasus

Similar to how Pegasus reigned over the skies of Greek mythology, Secretariat dominated American racetracks. History of Horse Racing on X released the viral video, which begins with Secretariat and an individual at a field. Yet, in a move reminiscent of the Scuderia Ferrari logo, the horse gallop out into the distance as the handler lets go of the beast’s tether. As he sprints with pinpoint accuracy down the field, his magnificent equine muscles stand out.

Secretariat sweeps past the field with pinpoint straight-line accuracy, much like Max Verstappen riding an RB19 in the 2023 Formula One season. Also, while turning in the corners of the field, the horse shows absolutely no hesitation. The horse’s video was just magnificent, just like his stellar career, where he won 16 out of 21 races. Back in the 1973 Wood Memorial Stakes (Gr. 1), the horse placed third, which was his worst performance, as his whole career is filled up with wins and second-place finishes. Even now, whenever footage of the million-dollar horse back then appears online, admirers don’t waste time reminiscing about the 1970s.
