The horse racing community was shocked as a short-priced Australian filly secured a groundbreaking victory in the dying seconds of the race.

Yonga Lass was coming off a resounding victory in her last race. Despite being backed to be one of the favorites, the 4-year-old mare was priced short at $2.45. However, she not only proved the ‘favorite’ predictions right, but managed to secure an ‘insane’ victory.

Yonga Lass secures ‘insane’ victory

TVG posted a short clip of the Ascot 2 race as Yonga Lass burst through the rival horses. “Yonga Lass with an insane turn-of-foot”, the caption of the video read. The $43840 Handicap fixture had several top horses in contention, zooming past Long Weekend, Count the Sessions and Demolish. It was a photo finish victory by half a length over 1400m. However, the short-priced Yonga Lass had other plans and finally stamped her authority on the big stage.

Yonga Lass was simply sensational, just like her last run. As the last round of the 1500m race neared, jockey William Pike let loose. The 4-year-old mare sprinted past other horses in no time and secured her most significant victory to date. With still a big career ahead, the daughter of Universal Ruler is determined to carry forward her mother’s legacy.

Yonga Lass’s distinguished horse racing career

Yonga Lass is a 4-year-old Australian bay mare trained by Grant and Alana Williams. She made her debut last year at the Lark H1 and continues to improve her record. Out of the 9 races, the Australian filly has managed to win 5 races till now, the most important being the latest Schweppes Handicap at Ascot.

In her last race, Yonga Lass overtook the rival horses in a similar fashion to today’s mammoth victory. She burst through the last 100m gap, running over the top of Count The Sessions and Demolish.
