“All in all it was a great day“, the British equestrian great expressed after riding 3 winners on Friday’s three-card. Entering the 36th year of his career, Dettori won the opener aboard Doncic by a nose. Despite witnessing disappointment in the second race, he won the next two races aboard Ze’bul and Virat, respectively. The ride atop Virat was the most eye-pleasing, with Dettori pulling the trigger in the last moments to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Seeing the champ reign on American soil, people back home were left nostalgic by Dettori’s age-old heroics.
