Shaun White concluded one of the most exhilarating ends to an Olympic qualification bid in Beijing. With the half-pipe event being his bread and butter in the past few Olympics, fans were expecting White to qualify in Beijing as well. However, the suspense built.

White suffered a fall on his first run out on the half-pipe and his chance was in serious jeopardy. With the pressure on, the athlete started his run. And right into history he went. With a strong performance in the clutch moment, White clinched a finals appearance for the 5th time. The 35-year-old will now compete in the finals in a bid to exit his final Olympic appearance with a medal.

Shaun White has always made sure that the Olympics feature his name. With gold medals at Torino and Peongyang in the past, and several other accomplishments to go with it, he is undoubtedly a great of the sport.

But needless to say, he has not gotten here alone. While it was very much an edge of the seat qualification, White’s partner, Nina Dobrev, posted several stories of White’s run and how thrilled she was at the achievement.

Nina Dobrev posts stories to congratulate Shaun White

Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have reportedly been together since February 2020 and the two often feature on each other’s social media. Dobrev was unable to accompany White to China due to some issues and is at home cheering for the superstar snowboarder. And even while at home, she has managed to be a very vocal cheerleader for White. On his qualification, she posted several stories to mark the landmark event for White.

In a series of several stories, we see the Vampire Diaries star share a video of Shaun White on his second run at the half pipe with a series of captions. It was clear that she was thrilled for the athlete when you hear her say, “That was really nerve-wracking, wasn’t it?” at the end of his run.

However, the emotions seem to have settled well; with Dobrev posting more stories congratulating the star captioned, “nailed it” and “I’m so proud”.

Dobrev also posted a story at the very end to showcase her support for the athlete, captioning it, “By your side every step of the way”, featuring a photo of herself by the TV featuring Shaun on the snowbank after his 2nd run.
