American sprinting star, Sha’Carri Richardson has been facing a lot of flak after her disappointing comeback on the field. Sprinting legend, Usain Bolt also sent advice to the young athlete.

However, Sha’Carri did not seem happy with it, as she attacked back at Bolt indirectly on her Instagram. Bolt went on to compare Sha’Carri’s response and attitude to an iconic American sprinter, Justin Gatlin. Bolt and Gatlin entertained the world with one of the most enthralling rivalries in track and field.

Usain Bolt finds similarities between Sha’Carri and Justin Gatlin

The on and off-field rivalry between Jamaican and American sprinters is not recent news. Both the nation’s athletes have always been each other’s biggest rivals, and one of the greatest rivalries was Usain Bolt vs Justin Gatlin.

Now, American athlete Sha’Carri Richardson has been in controversy because of her fiery rivalry with Jamaican sprinting trio, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, and Shericka Jackson. However, there has only been one winner this season with the trio producing breathtaking performances. Jamaican legend, Usain Bolt had advised Sha’Carri Richardson to focus on her training more than trash talk.

However, Sha’Carri did not appreciate it, as she posted an indirect attack on him, calling him out for talking about her and not to her. In conversation?with Dance Hall Mag, Bolt reacted to Sha’Carri’s response. Bolt found similarities between Justin Gatlin and Sha’Carri, as both of them like to talk big.

?But its Americans. I have competed with Justin Gatlin ova di years, big up to Justin; he?s a great competitor, but he was one of those persons that like to talk. He talks a big talk, but (when you) shows up you have to perform,? Usain said.

Bolt further added, ?And for me, it?s just America? when you talk, people look. And look out for you. So it?s just one of those things that you get to understand in the sport. Any sport, when you talk people are going to now watch and see if you can back it up,?

Re-kindling an old rivalry

At his first Olympics, it was American athlete Justin Gatlin who denied a podium finish to Usain Bolt. While he was Bolt’s greatest rival, he also liked to talk a lot about what he can do. 21-year-old Sha’Carri Richardson has also been vocal about her abilities. But unfortunately, she has been unable to produce the performances to back it up this season.

On the other hand, Jamaican sprinters Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann had the best years of their careers. As Elaine became the second-fastest and Shelly-Ann became the third-fastest woman ever.

The athletics season 2021 is almost over. Hopefully, Sha’Carri will come back stronger next year and own up to her words, as she has the potential to become the fastest in the world.
