Jenise Spiteri rode into the Beijing Olympics 2022 high on expectations of a remarkable performance. And so she did. Not just in her event, but Spiteri gave a unique look into the Winter Olympics through her social media channels. And she found even newer ways of endearing herself to the fans. Taking names and kicking a** in truly epic fashion, Spiteri called on her haters and waited 12 years to hand in the receipt. In a video she posted online, Spiteri hit back at some people that maligned her in a post online in the past.

The crowd favorite may not have finished on the podium, but she sure won some hearts. Spiteri competed in the women’s half-pipe event and managed to endear herself to viewers as she pulled out a bao bun after completing her run.

This amongst her general cheery attitude and ability to relate to the viewers, Spiteri also showed herself to be fully human. Munching on a bao bun while awaiting her scores for her first run on the halfpipe.

But the one thing that really set Spiteri apart from the crown was just how she dealt with the haters from a few years ago on her social channels. In truly epic fashion, Spiteri called them out in the most ideal setting you can imagine.

Jenise Spiteri claps back

Spiteri posted a short video of herself in front of Olympian rings with a message for her detractors. Spiteri remembers.

The story behind the post involves a time when a bunch of online trolls posted on her social media. The post carried some pretty rude comments, but it seems Spiteri has dealt with it. Like all good athletes, Spiteri clearly used that as motivation. She turned around and sniped back at them at just the right time.

Spiteri says in the video, “Some guys made a post talking all about how by the end of the season, ‘I guarantee she will crawl home to mommy and daddy,’”; brandishing a printout of the post from the time as proof.

Unable to hold back her smile anymore, Spiteri points the camera to the post as she brings up the paper. “I’ve waited 12 years to respond to this and now it’s finally the time, so: Dear guys who wrote this, I am not a ‘stupid, ignorant, spoiled, trendy, blind, naïve, helpless, little b****h,’” she says, triumphantly.

“Actually,” she adds, “I’m an Olympian.” And just as if to punctuate her point, she crumbles the paper and tosses it through the rings.

The paper might as well have been a mic because Spiteri just dropped it like that. The athlete sure should be proud of herself for calling herself an Olympian, and it really shows. And with the games set to end in a few days, Spiteri will forever be acknowledged as one of the most lovable athletes to have taken the field.
