In his memoirs,?Never Grow Up,?Chan admitted to not being a model husband or father, due to his unavailability. It hit him when his wife once cried out loud upon hearing her son’s career choice.

Chan’s acting stint inspired Jaycee

Jaycee Chan is a singer, lyricist, and musician who released his first album in 2004. Just like any other father worried about his son’s future, Chan was concerned about Jaycee’s career. The singer and songwriter wasn’t interested in studies and declared that he wanted to make movies, just like his father. Chan wasn’t satisfied with this answer. Hoping that his son would study hard to get into college, the star expressed his disappointment.

Since Chan strongly believed that an individual couldn’t achieve anything without studying, he told Jayce that he would need to attend college anyway. But that night, Chan saw his wife, Joan Lin, crying. Joan was heartbroken upon hearing about Jaycee’s plans.?When the star asked her the reason?for her disappointment, she confessed,?“The movie business has already taken away my husband. I don’t want to lose my son, too.”?

His parents, although disappointed, made a deal that if the film succeeded, Jaycee could continue trudging his path. But if not, he would have to return to college. Jackie Chan refused to back his son with wealth
