For the longest time since his childhood, Chan sported a shaved head. This was the norm for all students of the drama academy that the star was a part of. Chan decided that he would grow his hair longer. He wanted it to be long enough to look different and unique. But that’s where the star got into trouble. Due to his long hair, people began thinking he was a thug. The stereotype worsened when the star visited Taiwan and South Korea – two nations where people usually sport a buzz-cut for military service.

The star, in his memoirs, recalled,?“I was questioned by the police…not realizing I was from Hong Kong, the local cops pulled me in for an interrogation.”
