“I Was Questioned by the Police”: Jackie Chan’s Looks Once Got Him Into Trouble

How far could an act of rebellion go? Well, for Hollywood star Jackie Chan, his rebellious act got him in trouble with the cops. Chan has made his name in Hollywood for pulling off both world-class action and humor. However, one of his experiences took the cake for being one of the most bizarre stories ever.

It all started when Chan refused to stick to a particular look. And this led cops to catch hold of him and interrogate him. But if the star did not commit a crime, what did he do?

For the longest time since his childhood, Chan sported a shaved head. This was the norm for all students of the drama academy that the star was a part of. However, when he grew up and graduated, things changed. Chan needed a new look. He wanted to go against his past, make up for regrets, and start afresh. He decided that he needed a new hairstyle. Something that was drastically different from what he had in the academy.

Chan decided that he would grow his hair longer. He wanted it to be long enough to look different and unique. But that’s where the star got into trouble. Due to his long hair, people began thinking he was a thug. The stereotype worsened when the star visited Taiwan and South Korea – two nations where people usually sport a buzz-cut for military service.

Soon, the actor was caught by the police due to suspicions. Since Chan hadn’t revealed that he belonged to Hong Kong, and wasn’t a part of the military, there was a misunderstanding. The star, in his memoirs, recalled“I was questioned by the police…not realizing I was from Hong Kong, the local cops pulled me in for an interrogation.”

Jackie’s childhood wasn’t forgiving

When he was around 6 years old, Chan was admitted to the China Drama Academy. Here, he learned martial arts, singing, acting, and a lot more. But he also got severe punishments and developed a disciplined lifestyle from here.

His first severe punishment was three days into the academy. Chan was hit with a cane by his teacher because he dropped some rice on the floor. While he quickly got over the sadness and pain, his years at the academy got tougher. He picked up all his skills and ideals but also carried a lot of terrible stories of punishments. Nevertheless, the star now vows to entertain his fans with his endearing antics and acting.
