The legendary martial arts expert Jackie Chan is not just any ordinary actor. Even when the stunts were extremely dangerous, Chan never backed out from them, and neither did he use a stunt double. But several times, his dedication to his work has led Chan into life-threatening situations. Once, the action hero talked about his scary stunt, which made an entire mall go quiet.

The stunt which almost killed Jackie Chan
The 1985 film “Police Story” is Chan’s one of the most iconic movies in the Hollywood industry. Although the movie was quite entertaining, the famous “lighting” scene was the most talked about part of the film.
Once, in an interview with IGN, Chan explained the story behind this scene and how he thought it was “the end” for him. The actor recalled his busy schedule and said, “I was sick. I get injection. I was day and night shooting. Daytime, I’m filming Heart of the Dragon. Nighttime I’m directing my own things.”

Hence, when the time came to execute the famous lighting stunt, an already weakened Chan was frightened. He confessed, “I’m scared. I’m really scared. I’m ordinary person, I’m not a Superman.” However, Chan was not someone who would give up so easily. So, when the time came to jump straight into the lit lighting from the top floor of a mall, Chan just went for it. The entire mall was quiet, and the only sound present was that of the cameras rolling. “I say, ‘I’m gonna die.’ Yeah, I just boom! I jump down. And I said, ‘Wow safe landing.'”
Although Chan landed safely, he was still running high from the instant energy mood he got from doing the risky stunt. The excited actor said, “I grab my stunt guy do this [fighting action]. Then he said, ‘Hold on big brother. I’m gonna die, don’t hit me anymore.'”
Even after experiencing a near-death experience, Chan seemed very delighted and proud while narrating the story to his fans. However, once even the greatest stuntman-actor tried to avoid a stunt.
A stunt that made Chan say ‘NO’

In his book, Chan talked about various movies and stunts he performed throughout his magnificent career. Chan also recalled a risky stunt he never wanted to do.
For days, Jackie came up with excuses to avoid shooting the stunt. However, one day or the other, the legend had to perform it. Although many advised Chan to use a stunt double, he refused to risk their lives. In the end, Chan successfully performed the stunt.

Although performing dangerous stunts was Chan’s forte, many a time, he also landed in the hospital after sustaining injuries while shooting these action scenes.
