As per his memoir, Never Grow Up, Chan wasn’t born with a silver spoon. In fact, with a meager family income they led a very austere life. Perhaps that is the reason behind his splurging spree after becoming a Hollywood superstar. Notably, he used to buy things in massive amounts, regardless of when and where to use them.

However, while sharing several anecdotes about his luxuries, Chan once opened up about how he once bought costly flashlights in America. “While shopping in America, I bought $6,000 worth of flashlights in one go, and everyone looked at me like I was insane.” He further shared, “At the time, no one in America had any idea who I was. They probably thought I was just a rich Asian weirdo.”

However, this was not the first time. He once bought 1200 antique China teacups after being inspired by a friend. Although his luxurious shopping was not limited to himself; Chan used to gift others just as lavishly.

While logging every nook and cranny of his life in his book, the Rush Hour actor capped off that once he bought watches for everyone from his stunt team. The action-comedy hero visited Albert Yeung?s watch emporium with his team and randomly picked up watches that summed up to $580,000.

Each watch for the stunt team was worth $20,000 which made them happy. Although he bought seven watches for himself, to wear each day of the week.
