However, Alyssa Nakken of the San Francisco Giants has set a new benchmark in baseball.

On Tuesday, Nakken became the first-ever woman coach to make an on-field appearance in Major League Baseball for the San Francisco Giants. The Giants were playing against the San Diego Padres, and they went on to win the game by a huge margin.

Notably, Alyssa Nakken made her on-field appearance as the Giants’ first-base coach in the middle of the game. She replaced the regular first-base coach, Antoan Richardson.

Making a career in a male dominating profession has never been easy for women. But Alyssa Nakken has set an example for all women looking to push the boundaries. She was on the field as the first-base coach for the Giants since the third inning of the game, and the Giants ran riot against the Padres and ended up winning the game 13-2 at Oracle Park.

After the game, Nakken shared her experience of being out there as the first-ever woman coach in an MLB game. As per ESPN, the Giants’ first-base coach said that she felt a sense of pride in the field. Meanwhile, Nakken also agreed that it was the best place to watch a game.

“You feel a sense of pride to be out there,” Alyssa Nakken said. “Personally, it’s the best place to watch a game, that’s for sure… It’s a big deal. I feel a great sense of responsibility and I feel it’s my job to honor those who have helped me to where I am.”

Notably, the 31-year-old first-base coach has been part of the Giants’ coaching staff since 2020. And even before that, Nakken was a top-level first baseman for the Sacramento State’s softball team.
