Appearing on an MLB Network Radio, AJ Finch only reassured the fans of his complete faith in Javy Baez and his ability to dispatch pitches that come his way on the plate. Said Finch, “What I see is like he’s a 100% Javy, 100% of the time.”
With the Tigers lining up for a series against potential title contenders in the Boston Red Sox, they are going to need Baez’s full strength and contribution. Speaking about the sheer ability of the shortstop, Finch simply waxed lyrically as he spoke.

“Generally speaking he has the intent to do damage in every single time he swings the bat,” he added, “his plate discipline got a little better with the Mets last year and that’s something we’re going to continue to capitalize on.”

Finch also spoke about the importance of letting Baez just do what he does best. To not crowd him with too much advice or to change how he plays the game. Said Finch, “That’s all good in theory, but you’re taking away such a massive strength of his.”
Baez certainly looks primed for a season with some solid contributions, and Finch wants him to perform to the best of his capabilities. “We’re gonna take Javy for what he is and how he is cause we know how good he can be and certainly we know the impact that he has,” he added.
