Why did Babe Ruth not retire with the Yankees?

It was July 1914, when a 19-year-old Babe Ruth made his baseball debut for the Boston Red Sox. Ruth played for the Red Sox until the 1919 season when the New York Yankees bought him from the Red Sox for a whopping $120,000 amount (a record at that time). After that, he went on to play 15 seasons for the Yankees and that is where he earned his legendary status.

In the 1934 season, when Ruth was in the last stage of his career, his performance started to decline. And that is when the Yankees discarded him from the team. However, even at 39, Babe Ruth didn’t want to retire and gave his career another shot. He then decided to join Boston Braves (now Atlanta Braves) and played one more season before he finally retired in 1935.
