Carlos Correa Demands Higher Deal Than Corey Seager’s $325M, Chicago Cubs Tight-Lipped

In the last few years, Major League Baseball has seen some of the biggest deals in its history. Earlier before the lockout in December 2021, When Texas Rangers signed Corey Seager, it was one of the largest contracts in MLB history. And now, top free agent Carlos Correa is aiming for the same.

Notably, the former Houston Astros shortstop, and a current free agent in the MLB market, Correa has been making headlines for his mammoth market value. And ever since his contract has expired with the Astros, MLB teams like the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs have been the favorites to sign the superstar shortstop.

However, Correa’s high-priced demand for a longer contract might be a problem for any teams to land him at their side.

There is no denying that Carlos Correa is arguably one of the best players in MLB. And after losing him for free, it will also hurt the Houston Astros. But at the moment, the Cubs and Yankees are facing some real problems.

Notably, ever since the free agency has reopened, the Chicago Cubs have been negotiating with Correa for a potential deal. Not only the Cubs, but the New York Yankees are also in the race. However, Correa’s high wages and multi-year demand have been a major roadblock for his new contract.

As per an MLB insider, Hector Gomez, Correa is aiming for a larger contract than Corey Seager’s record-breaking 10-year deal with the Texas Rangers. That deal cost a whopping $325 million to the Rangers.

Taking to Twitter, Gomez tweeted, “Carlos Correa is aiming for a larger guarantee than Corey Seager’s 10-year, $325 million deal with the Texas Rangers.”

Knowing that the regular season will start in a few weeks, Correa must have to find his new home at the earliest. Because the delay might not be the best for the star shortstop.
