Finally, the day has arrived! Yes, superstar shortstop, Carlos Correa is making his spring training debut for the Minnesota Twins. Nearly, in his eight years of MLB career, Correa will not play for the Houston Astros in the 2022 season.

Notably, in the current free agency, the former Astros shortstop joined the Twins on a short-term deal. After being linked with some of the top MLB sides such as the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs, Correa ended up at the Twins.

With this move, Correa surprised everyone in the baseball world. No one had even imagined that a top player like him would sign for a mid-table team. And now, the star shortstop is donning the Twins shirt for the first time against the Boston Red Sox in his spring debut.

Earlier during the lockout in MLB, there were reports that Correa wanted a long-term contract worth over $300 million. But seems like the Puerto Rican star couldn’t find a better deal than the Twins. At last, he ended up signing a short-term deal with the Minnesota Twins. Correa signed a three-year deal worth a whopping $105.3 million with the Twins.

And now, for the first time in his career, Correa is playing for the Minnesota Twins. Earlier today, the Twins included Correa’s name in their line-up for the spring game against the Red Sox. Recently, MLB analyst Ben Verlander shared a short clip on his Twitter account. In which fans can see, Correa’s first play on the first at-bat in his spring debut against the Red Sox.

There was another interesting that happened in the ballpark. Instead of No. 1 on his jersey, Correa is wearing No. 4 for the Twins. However, he has already clarified why he decided to switch his jersey number.

After his move from the Astros, Correa wanted to have a new number. While he also confirmed that there is no special meaning behind the switch in jersey number.
