Now, coming back to the Friday game, Scherzer was pitching against Soto. And guess what? He didn’t let Soto dominate him and won the game for the Mets. After the game, Scherzer admitted that at some point, Soto will blast him in the ballpark as it’s a game of cat-mouse.

“You want to face the best you know… This is round one,” Scherzer said. “It gets fun a few more times down the road when we’ve gotten to see how he hits against all of my pitches. He’s going to blast me at some point. But it’s just the cat-mouse game and the point you know how to navigate your sequences around him, that’s a fun part.”

Despite losing their starting pitcher, the New York Mets have started the season on a winning note. They have won the first two games against the Washington Nationals. And with Scherzer by their side, the Mets have got their pitching options covered up.
