Noah Syndergaard may have only just made his way into the LA Angels, but he is already making a splash. And despite a wrongly attributed quote, he made it well clear where he stood with the 2-way superstar, Shohei Ohtani. When a parody account tweeted a quote wrongly attributed to the pitcher, he was quick to clarify, and he only seemed to double down on Ohtani’s ability and skill set.

Noah Syndergaard is a recent acquisition for the LA Angels. With the pitcher finally adding some depth to their bullpen rotation come 2022, the Angels will be expecting to make a splash come 2022. Not in the least, down to the presence of superstar Shohei Ohtani in their lineup. And on the mound too. However, when Noah Syndergaard was attributed to having said a particular tweet, he knew just what to say about the star.

Noah Syndergaard compared Shohei Ohtani to Babe Ruth

When you perform at the level that Ohtani has been, comparisons become inevitable. Perhaps even more so when you consider that one of the greatest players of all time, Babe Ruth had only one 2-way season while he was with the Boston Red Sox in 1918. And with Ohtani performing from the mound as well as from home plate, he looks well on track to at least match up to the MLB icon.

And Syndergaard seems to agree. In a recent quote attributed to the pitcher from a parody account, it was mentioned that he compared the Angels’ lead-off hitter, Shohei Ohtani, to perhaps one of the greatest power hitters to ever take the diamond. And while a part of that quote was subsequently fact-checked by Syndergaard, he agreed with the comparison.

Wrote Syndergaard, “Although I agree, Shohei is Babe Ruth.”

While the rest of the tweet dealt mainly with the LA Dodgers’ main hitter Mookie Betts, Syndergaard acknowledged the skill there too. “And Mookie Betts can eat whatever the hell he wants, he’s a beast, “ he wrote. Clearly, there is some respect in the ranks there as Syndergaard takes the mound ready for a stellar 2022.

But how do you see his first season playing out for ‘Thor’? Will Syndergaard make an impact with the Anaheim outfit? Or do you think he still needs some time before he can truly bed into the culture of the franchise?
