The New York Yankees may just have the most eventful team of the 2022 season. With some urgency around re-signing Aaron Judge already, the dynamic between other teammates too has piqued some interest. Specifically when Josh Donaldson made his way to the team with Gerrit Cole. Someone he had been relatively outspoken against last season regarding spin rates. However, if Yankees catcher, Kyle Higashioka is to be believed, things seem to have settled down.
Josh Donaldson, new on the Yankees roster was involved in some spicy media engagements last season. Some of them even had to do with the New York Yankees star pitcher Gerrit Cole; and with the two set to take Yankee Stadium together in 2022, sparks were expected to fly. In a recent media interaction Higashioka was quite outspoken about his interactions so far. And if anything is clear, it is that this year is very different for the two interacting from the last. With team bonding being strong on the New York Yankees, clearly last year was a different ballgame because of the existing equation between hotter Josh Donaldson and Yankees star pitcher Gerrit Cole.

However, with him joining up with the Yankees this season, that seems to be up for a change. Smiling as he said it, Higashioka mentioned that it appeared as though the tension was now waning though. He added, “I think we’re past that.”
The New York Yankees sure look set to grow into their roster as the season progresses. With a great hitting core in place and a decent mound rotation too, all that remains is to wait and see. With the offensive outputs of both Aaron Judge and Joey Gallo in place and Gerrit Cole to lead the charge from the mound, could the Yankees make it to the post season this year? Or maybe even farther?
