In January 2019, hosts of the popular podcast, The Corp with A-Rod and Big Cat, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez, and Dan ‘Big Cat’ Katz invited one of the biggest names in the NBA, Kobe Bryant. This was quite an interesting podcast, as there the two stars got along seemingly well.
They discussed work ethic, business, fame, legacy, and much more. Unfortunately, a year later, on January 26th, 2020, Kobe Bryant passed away in a fatal helicopter crash, along with his daughter Gianna Bryant, and 7 others. Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez could have been an outfielder!
We saw the trio enjoying themselves during the talk show. A-Rod said that he is not into basketball, but he is a Kobe guy. A-Rod had been following Kobe for a long time. While talking with Kobe, he shared a story where he was scared of getting his position changed while playing in the MLB.
“I do want to talk about mentorship Kobe. Because I know that mentorship has been a big part of your life. One of the interesting things about me being 6’3 is to be a shortstop coming out of Miami. I had one guy to look at. Because I was scared as f*ck that they were gonna move me to third base or in the outfield. I’m like no, I can play shortstop.”

Although A-Rod had been a third baseman for the Yankees, it is quite funny to imagine him playing as an outfielder. Both Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez and Kobe Bryant are role models for so many youngsters that every young kid is listening keenly to what they had to say.

Undoubtedly, Kobe’s demise was a huge loss to family and friends, as well as the NBA fraternity. For his followers, who looked up to his work ethic, his courage, and his determination, he continues to live in their hearts.
