The Yankees seem to make anything affiliated to them more valuable, or maybe they only affiliate themselves with valuable things. Either way, it seems like there remains active in the market a very clear Yankee premium; and that has been applied across the board, including trading cards. In a recent sale, Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez’ Bowman Chrome piece sold for a whopping $474,000, at an auction.

The card, although rare in itself, could also be seen as an affirmation of confidence in the young Dominguez. The auction for the item had opened in January and some frenetic bidding finally saw it fetching the whopping price.

Jasson Dominguez, fondly called “The Martian” by Yankee fans, is a top rated prospect currently playing lower A-ball for the Yankees. The 19-year-old has reached other-worldly levels of hype. After initially signing on for a franchise record $5.1 million aged just 16 in 2019, Dominguez has only elevated his stock. Drawing comparisons with stalwarts like Mike Trout, Bo Jackson and Mickey Mantle for his plus tools across the board.

Dominguez was unable to spend any time training with the Yankees in 2020 at their alternate training site; however, he did bounce back in 2021. Spending the season at Lower A Tampa, Dominguez has done well for himself.

Jasson Dominguez Card Sells for Whopping Amount

The sale of the card was conducted by Goldin Auction House after it began the bidding at $30,000 on January 13, 2021. After quickly rising to $101,000 in the first 24 hours. The price then also rose to $161,000 in the next two weeks; but the greatest rise was seen on the final day of the auction.

The 2020 Bowman Chrome Superfactor Autograph Rookie Card is a 1/1 which makes it extremely valuable. A large part of its valuation can also be drawn from the card’s condition, which is rated quite highly.

Jasson Dominguez will probably open the season at lower A Tampa itself, but reportedly, he could very quickly see a jump to playing in Double A Somerset.
