The 2022 MLB season is still a few days away, and even before the start of the season, the New York Mets are struggling with the injury of their key player. Notably, the Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom is out for months because of a shoulder injury.

Even deGrom was not expecting something like this to happen. The injury has almost guaranteed that the pitcher would miss out on the entire 2022 season. The Mets pitcher is more than frustrated, as he won’t be able to pitch the inning for the Mets on the opening day of the season.

During the spring training games, deGrom with the Mets’ new signee, Max Scherzer put on a show in the ballpark. And, fans were excited to see the duo perform together in the league games as well.

Jacob deGrom felt his shoulder and elbow were in a good spot

Reacting to his injury via SNY, deGrom said that he felt his shoulder and elbow were in a good spot. And an injury in the bone was not something he was expecting. But, after the latest update regarding his injury, the Mets’ ace is highly frustrated.

“I’m really frustrated,” Jacob deGrom said. “Like I said, I came into camp doing really good. Felt like my elbow and shoulder are in a good spot. And then here, a stretch stress reaction in the bone was definitely something I was not expecting. So the level of frustrations are really high right now.”

Had deGrom, not been injured, his partnership with Max Scherzer would have been a deadly one for the opposition. However, to see this partnership again on the field, MLB fans will now have to wait for at least 4 to 6 weeks. As per reports, deGrom, won’t be able to throw for at least a month.

On the opening day of the 2022 MLB season, the New York Mets will be playing against the Washington Nationals. And after deGrom’s injury, the Mets’ management is yet to name his replacement.

However, in the name of Max Scherzer, the Mets do have an experienced starting pitcher, who can turn things around for the Mets. But Buck Showalter is yet to name him as the starting pitcher for the opening day.
