With the baseball season all set to get underway, the players seem hard at work preparing; Some even off the field with the social media presence. And Joey Votto, the first baseman for the Cincinnati Reds, is fresh on the scene as he has just announced his first foray into social media and did it in quite an amazing video. The video struck a chord with MLB commentator Ben Verlander too, who gave Votto a worthy shoutout on his Twitter feed.
Joey Votto announced his account with a great video on the media platform. Reds fans can get hyped if this is the standard that Votto is setting out to deliver from his account and if he keeps up the content through the season. And while opening with a standard welcome to social media, the athlete fast moved to a streak of comedy, fans will love to see.

Posting the media to his personal Instagram, Joey Votto got a shout-out from one of the most followed accounts on Twitter in Ben Verlander. With the sportscaster clearly excited to see Votto on the grapevine, he posted his welcome video captioned, “Joey Votto is a national treasure.”

The video starts out with the usual pleasantries and Joey Votto introducing himself to his new peers on social media. And explained the reason for his prolonged absence from the platform. Says Votto, “For a while I have seen it from a distance but I have been too intimidated to join”.

He added, “And so I’m glad to join and I appreciate everyone’s support.” Votto spoke too about how he expected his engagement on social media to move forward from here. “I’m looking forward to sharing photos and videos and being more social and getting to know more people.”

And hereon in came the humor that netizens seemed to appreciate so much. Picking on perhaps one of the cornerstones of the internet and social media, Votto launched a very pointed attack. Said Votto, “I also can’t wait to share each and every one of my meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Photos and explanations… “ before suddenly snapping and moving in a totally different direction.
With an absolute straight face, Votto negated all he had said so far. Said Votto, “No. Never.”
