From players to baseball fans, the lockout in Major League Baseball has been frustrating for everyone. Now, in the next week, it will complete its three-month anniversary. And even now, the MLB owners and players have not reached any agreement.

Notably, the lockout in Major League Baseball will be three months old in the next week. With the regular season about to start; the two parties must agree to the new collective bargaining agreement. Else, the league games will be lost. That will cost both the owners and players.

How much salaries MLB players will lose if league games get cut?

With lockout still in force, MLB has already delayed the spring training of the next season. However, instead of Feb 26, spring training will start a week later, from March 5. However, this is something that both sides can manage. And will also not hamper the league.

However, if the owners and players’ association do not agree to the new CBA deal at the earliest; the league will end up losing many games. With this, not only the owners but also the players would sacrifice a huge amount of salaries from their purses. This will directly affect some of the top-earning players of MLB, such as Max Scherzer, Gerrit Cole, and Anthony Rendon.

As per Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac, Max Scherzer will lose a huge sum of $232,974 per day, while Gerrit Cole and Anthony Rendon will lose around $193k each from their purse. Players like Mike Trout ($190,591), Stephen Strasburg ($188,172), Nolan Arenado ($188,172), and Jacob deGrom ($180,107) will also lose a sizable amount of money from their salaries.

As per Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, all MLB players will lose a total of $20.5 million per day, if the regular season doesn’t start on its schedule. However, the amount of money owners would lose in this case is still unknown.
