New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals engaged in a bench-clearing fight in the ballpark on Wednesday. Both sides blamed each other for the brawl and supported their own players. The incident occurred when a Mets relief pitcher threw an injury-threatening pitch to a Cardinals player.

Under the guidance of Buck Showalter, the New York Mets are doing wanders this season. Despite struggling with injuries, the Mets are yet to lose any series in the 2022 season. Notably, during the 2022 free agency, the Mets made some notable signings and hired the veteran manager Buck Showalter as their manager.

Coming to the third game of the recent series, the Cardinals came with an intention of winning the game. Though the Cardinals had already lost the series to the Mets, winning the last game would boost their confidence for the upcoming games this season. The Cardinals managed to win the game, but they also had a massive fight with the Mets players.

Fans believe the New York Mets had enough

Earlier, in the second game, the Mets players received three hit-by-pitches from the Cardinals pitchers. And the next day in the third game, it was the Mets’ turn to do the dirty work. When the Cardinals hitter Nelson Arenado was at the plate, Yoan Lopez threw a slider near Arenado’s head.

This pitch by Lopez led both sides to bench-clearing and a massive brawl in the ballpark. After this incident, baseball fans also reacted on the microblogging site. Some favored the New York Mets, while some fans took a dig at both teams.

One fan even said the Cardinals deserved to get such a nasty pitch. He suggested the Cardinals teach their pitchers how to strikeout.

One Mets fan claimed that the New York Mets own the Cardinals. While another fan expressed that after getting so many HBPs, the Cardinals had it coming.

Despite a massive brawl, not a single player got hurt. And ultimately, the Cardinals won the game by 10-5 against the Mets. As per the latest points table, with 14 wins and six defeats, the New York Mets are sitting at the top of the NL East points table.
