Nathan Chen recently opened up in a published interview about his run in the Olympics so far and went on to say that he was perfectly happy with where he had ended up. The gold at the Beijing Winter Olympics currently serves as his crowning glory and if that is to be his glowing achievement, it seems as though Chen is alright with that.

Chen appeared to be clear and quite comfortable with what he had set up so far. With an Olympic Gold, something only a few athletes can boast of holding, few can blame him too for being happy with his performance.
Said Chen, “At this point, I’m pretty satisfied with what has happened already in my career.”

He maintained, however, that it by no means was meant to be a full stop. Said Chen, “But that being said, I still really, really love skating. I still really love competing and the whole process of skating.”
What stands in the future?
Indicating that the thoughts of stopping to compete altogether have crossed his mind, Chen said that it was a more encompassing decision that would need some thought. “So it’s going to take more time for me to really think it out since it is a fairly big decision for me. We’ll see. I think in the near future it’ll probably help. As time goes on, I think I’ll have a more clear idea,” he added.

Speaking to the continual struggle of athletes, Chen contributed on how progress is incremental, but setbacks are substantial. He added, “Every single day you’re trying to change a little bit, and get a little better, and get a little bit better. And then there’s another setback. And this just goes on forever, basically.”
