Notably, as of now, only wooden bats are allowed for the batters in Major League Baseball.

And if aluminum bats become a reality in MLB, then god save the pitchers and fielders in the ballpark. Playing with aluminum bats can be very dangerous in MLB. Because, in the past, it has only harmed the game of baseball.

“Rob Manfred announced Friday that Major League Baseball will begin experimenting with the aluminum bat in the final week Spring Training. With the hope of incorporating it into regulation play by midseason,” tweeted Howard Cole.

However, there are tons of drawbacks if MLB officially allows aluminum bats as it is very dangerous for the pitchers and fielders. Notably, with the trampoline effect, aluminum bats produce higher speeds of balls compared to wooden bats.

Imagine, if a pro hitter like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. or Shohei Ohtani starts playing with aluminum bats. Where would they send the balls to? The bounce-back rate of the ball after being hit by an aluminum bat is so high that if being hit, It can take someone’s life. That is the main reason why aluminum bats are not in use in MLB.

However, at school and college-level games, aluminum bats are allowed. Because wooden bats are way more costly than aluminum bats. And the durability of aluminum bats is much better than wooden bats.
