Montreal Expos Friends Convinced Tom Brady to Pick NFL Over Baseball- “You Can Play in Front of 100,000 People”

In American football, there will never be a greater ambassador of this game than Tom Brady. And with the kind of illustrious career he has in the NFL, he is arguably the greatest quarterback in history. He has been playing in the National Football League for the last 22 years. But many fans do not know that before playing football, Brady was a baseball player, too.

Yes, before making it big in the NFL, the Buccaneers quarterback started his career in baseball. With the kind of greatness he has achieved in football, it’s easy for the fans to not believe that at first Brady had started his career as a baseball catcher.

During his high school days when Brady was only 17 years old, He was one of the MLB draft picks by the MLB side Montreal Expos in the 1995 season. The Expos wanted him to be a promising catcher for their side. And with his left-handed power hitting and a strong arm for throwing out base-runners, the Expos considered Brady as a potential player for the future.

Why did Brady leave baseball?

There were no doubts that Brady could have a wonderful career in baseball. But there was a little problem for Tom Brady when he was thinking about pursuing his career in baseball. By the time the Montreal Expos picked him from the MLB draft, Brady started loving football.

After knowing this, the Expos players helped him to clear his mind and convinced him to play football instead of baseball. When Bardy went on a road trip with the Expos players to play San Francisco Giants, that is where players like F. P. Santangelo surrounded Brady in the locker room told him to focus on football. Because in football he will have a bigger audience and more money compared to baseball.

“We’re like why in the world would you make $800 a month, play in front of 100 people in the minor leagues, riding buses for ten hours when you can play in front of 100,000 people at (Michigan’s) Big House on Saturday,” said Santangelo.

And it was enough for Brady to switch his career from a baseball catcher to become the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Since then he has won seven Super Bowls in his 22 years in NFL. There are also reports that Brady has decided to retire from football. But the official confirmation still awaits.
